“Chique” Beauty Balm
As some of you may know from some of my posts here, I am on an all natural beauty regime. I have been using coconut oil almost exclusively as a moisturizer since we spent the summer in the sun. Pure Virgin Coconut Oil is a miracle cream you can use from head to toe. It protects your skin from the harmful sun rays as it moisturizes. Not only does it smell divine, but it provides tons of antioxidants, nutrients and it has anti-wrinkle properties. If I could bathe in it I would!
I will have to admit, I was a little nervous at first, but I spent everyday in the sun and didn’t get burned once. My skin felt soft, supple and healthy the whole vacation. So when we returned, I just keep slathering it on day and night.
It does harden as it cools, so now I have started adding in a little Almond Oil which keeps the Coconut Oil in a liquid state. Otherwise, I had to keep running my mini pump jar under water each time to melt the moisturizer. Almond Oil is also commonly used in cosmetics and it is rich in vitamins A, E and D. The perfect compliment.
So don’t think of Coconut and Almonds just as nutritious foods, but as a natural healthy way of feeding your skin. Simple “Chique” beauty in a bottle! Try it and let me know how you feel.

Recycled pump jar
First, melt the Coconut Oil to a liquid state by running the jar under hot water or let it stand in a pan of boiling water until thin enough to dispense. I have a mini funnel I use to pour it into the pump bottle. Then add the Almond Oil. I split them 70% Coconut Oil to 30%Almond Oil. I bought my Coconut Oil at Trader Joe’s, but most grocery stores carry it. Make sure it is virgin as the others are too rich for the skin.
I love Whole Foods cosmetic department. They have just about everything you need at a reasonable price. This bottle of Almond Oil will last me forever and it was only $4.99. I like to use a pump so I don’t have to dip my fingers in a jar and it regulates the amount I use. I do 2 to 3 pumps per application. It is good around the eyes too! Enjoy.
I am out of night moisturizer and was debating what to get. Now I will be down to Whole Foods for the almond oil and I already have the TJ’s coconut oil. I mix grainy salt with olive oil as an exfoliating mixture. Any ideas ?
@kathyevascu honey, salt and oil is a good too. Check out some of my other posts on natural cosmetics. Favorite facial scrub is just good old fashion baking soda..miracle worker!
