“Chique” Doughnut Shop

Doughnuts. All I have been craving recently are doughnuts. Not nasty, stale, store bought ones, but hot, fresh, old fashion, melt-in-your mouth doughnuts. I was just complaining this weekend that we really don’t have a bakery downtown to satisfy my intense desire. Matt thinks it is just that time of the month, but honestly, I could eat them everyday! As some of you know, I do try to live in moderation and in an attempt to be healthy we did bake our own here, but they are just not the same.

So today, while reading Jessica Herman’s, Chicago City Guide, I found that my doughnut dreams have been answered. I discovered a mini emporium of deliciousness called, The Doughnut Vault. It literally took all the will power in the world, not to hop on my bike and head north for some serious goodness. So instead, I am sharing my discovery with all of you. Ironically, they just celebrated their one year anniversary this month. Where have I been, living under a rock? Have you ever been there? Do they really taste as good as they look? I can’t wait to sink my teeth into one.

Now, I know what we have planned for this Saturday morning. Even better, they open their little “hole in the wall” at the crack of dawn and they close when they run out! Now that is “Chique”.

  1. Doughnut Vault has really really great doughnuts. I also like “Dat Donut” at 82nd and Cottage (and another location farther south).

  2. Joy, thanks for the reassurance! I will let you know when I indulge…

M, glad to see even a raw food vegan thinks a doughnut looks good 🙂

P.S. Definitely not pregnant just a doughnut lover!
