“Chique” Sparkles

What girl doesn’t love a little bling? As we welcome the holidays it only seems appropriate to add a little glitter to our lives. Whether it is subtle with clothes, and makeup or extreme in home decor and gift wrap. Either way, don’t take the sparkle trend too seriously. Of course you can dress it up for special occasions, but I also love it for everyday. The key is to dress it down and have some fun.

You all know my obsession with Instagram, right? Well, I have recently engaged in Lin & Lou’s “Coast to Coast Challenge” on IG. Every Tuesday and Thursday the girls pick a trend and fashionistas from all over the globe participate. What better way to find inspiration?

So this week’s theme was “Glitter it Up”. Friends, it was a Tuesday the week before Christmas. I was running around like a crazy person working, prepping, baking, shopping and carpooling. It wasn’t as if I was going to throw on my tuxedo pants, a sparkle knit and 3 inch heels just for the Coast to Coast Challenge. I would be a little over dressed, not to mention uncomfortable. But, that didn’t stop me from joining the game.

I scoured my closet for a little glitz and came across this oldie but goodie. I absolutely adore this vintage Yves Saint Laurent glitter sweater that I scored from my mom. What better time than the present to pull it out!

So, here is my rendition of “Glitter it Up” street style. I dressed down my sparkle woven knit with a pair of camouflage skinny’s, my trusty Chuck’s and one of my favorite vintage cross necklaces.

MY vintage YSL shimmer knit

My outfit was casual and functional with a hint of shimmer! And even the ladies at Coast to Coast Challenge thought it was “Chique”. Thanks Lin & Lou for the feature.

Can’t wait for next time. Are you on Instagram? If so, join in on the fun. You never know who or what will inspire you next!

P.S. I can’t decide what I like better my outfit or this amazing mural in Pilsen!
