“Chique” Tip: The Year of the Dragon
As some of you already know from my previous post, The Ancona School has a wonderful tradition in the pre-primary classrooms of studying the culture of China. With it’s rich history and diverse student body the school continues to explore new ways for the children to experience the power and joy of learning. So today was the annual student Chinese New Year parade in celebration of the upcoming event. According to the Chinese Lunar calendar, we will be ringing in the year 4710, the auspicious year of the Dragon! The children dress up in traditional Chinese tunics, decorate gigantic floats and play the Chinese noisemakers to ward off the evil spirits as they travel through the halls of Ancona. A truly spectacular sight. The city is also kicking off the Chinese New Year with the parade in Chinatown on Sunday, January 29th. An event not to be missed as the floats and costumes are divine and of course “Chique”.
