“Chique” Trends: Fall 2013

I finally had some free time to indulge in the Fall 2013 fashion shows on line. In my opinion, Style.com has the best coverage of all the collections. From the runway photos, to the details, to the beauty trends and lastly a glimpse of the atmosphere. A little overwhelming when you think of the hundreds of amazing designers world wide, but that is why I love my fashionable Instagram friends who are front row at the shows. They snap a pic. If I love it, I mark it so. Then when time allows, I go back to view the collection on line. Simple, right?

So, here is my take on Fall 2013. The trends that stood out for me are more fur, lots of layers, tons of Military inspiration, rocker “Chique”, textured fabrics, brocade, minimal makeup and open toe boots were the highlights.

As for designers, my newest discovery were Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco whom I stumbled upon thanks to Lucy Sykes Rellie. They launched their namesake label Kaufmanfranco in 2004, but hosted their first ever runway show this season. Maybe I am bias but their theme, spies, is oh so hot, right? Designers Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco are just one of many labels claiming that espionage inspired their Fall collection. Oh so “Chique” my friends.

Then there is Rebecca Taylor, citing David Bowie as a constant source of inspiration. Who is with me on this one, friends? According to Taylor, she wanted Fall 2013 to be tomboyish and androgynous with a seventies Brit punk edge. I am there!

If that is not enough, Prabal Gurung, Derek Lam, Ralph Lauren, Monique Lhuiller, Marc Jacobs and J. Mendel also knocked my socks off with their collections. So, be sure to check out my mood board “fashion week” on Pinterest for more! What were some of your favorite looks from the Fall 2013 runway shows? Please share your “Chique” thoughts.
