My “Chique” Beauty Regime

I received a lot of emails and questions about my skin care ritual after I wrote this post last week about my Coconut & Almond Oil beauty balm. I am a bit of a junkie, so I switch up my routine regularly, but here is what I am doing at the moment. Remember, it is good to give your skin a break and try new things, so don’t be afraid to give it a shot!

Someone asked “What do I use to cleanse my skin?”. If I am not using the Oil Cleansing Method. as I described here in a previous post, I use Avalon Organics Vitamin C products. I love their Refreshing Cleansing Gel as it foams nicely and Vitamin C helps neutralize free radicals, boost collagen and help produce elastin. I also use their Revitalizing Eye Cream for daytime, as it is very refreshing for morning eyes!

“What do I recommend for masks or scrubs?” was another good question from one of my readers. As you know from my post here, I love using ordinary Baking Soda as an exfoliant at least once a week. I keep it in an old recycled spice jar on my vanity, so it is at arms reach! Read this post for more details.

As for masks, my latest obsession is using Raw Honey. I posted a “Chique” Tip on Instagram, but didn’t blog about it. The key is to use raw honey, as it is naturally antibacterial and contains powerful healing enzymes. Gently apply it to clean damp skin and leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes. I have been known to spread it on my face on a Saturday morning and walk around with it on for an hour or so before I shower. It rinses off easily and is so moisturizing!

Last, but not least someone asked me about what I use as body lotion. I do love the Whole Foods brand lotions, but even better in the blistery winter months is Grapeseed Oil, as it locks in the moisture and isn’t too greasy! It doesn’t have a scent, so you can add an essential oil to give it an aromatherapy property if you feel the need. Check out this article from Whole Living here for some good ideas. I just use it right from the canister, as the La Tourangelle packaging is “Chique” just on it’s own!

I have also been known to wash my body with my Castor Oil & Olive Oil  cleanser, as my skin is just so dry this time of year.

I hope that gives you some good ideas on how to “green” your beauty regime. Natural, soothing and “Chique” all in one! Please share your recipes as I would love to try.
