PJ’s “Chique” Graduation
I don’t know about you, but I do not remember having an elaborate Kindergarten Graduation? On the other hand, I do remember having a minor meltdown when I had to leave Miss Zoobie’s Kindergarten class. Yes, that was really her name! I basically, gave my parents an ultimatum. I would not go to 1st grade unless Mary Emanuel was in my class. We were like Frick and Frack, inseparable. I was tall; she was short. I was painfully thin; she was round. But, despite our physical differences we were the best of friends, all through grade school.
Well, I digress as I really was here to talk about PJ’s graduation ceremony. I just love The Ancona School for so many reasons, but the thoughtfulness and care that goes into the simplest of traditions is so heartwarming. This year the “graduates” put on a play adapted from the book “Talk Talk”. PJ, like Parker, three years ago, had the lead role! Then they sang “Paz”, a song in Spanish about freedom, peace, no war and no hunger. The teachers then presented the children with scrolls, which were diplomas and a copy of the poem “All I Really Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten”. Afterwards, we showered the new 1st graders with lots of delicious treats and a big party.
The perfect ending to the amazing journey through Pre-Primary. Of course, a few tears were shed as Myriam has been the boys’ teacher for six years now. But, it is not a goodbye, as we will always have Myriam in our lives as we have grown to be such close friends. Toast to that my “Chique” friends! Happy Summer…
Congratulations to PJ and Parker, ticking off another milestone on their amazing journey through life! Always keep learning, boys.
Love,
Uncle Frank
